Tour Hotel Recommendations
« on: November 12, 2015, 10:53:23 PM »
I thought it would be good idea if members could post recommendations on one of the harder things to choose when planning a tour… hotels. It would be good to build up a reference library to help anyone heading out on tour.

So here’s a list of some of the hotels we’ve used over the past few years that I'd recommend and would happily use again. All have proved to be biker friendly and suitable for overnight stops on tour. All have proved to be safe for parking bikes. I‘ve indicated their rough regional area. If you want more info on any just pm me (or Andy or Snaffle) with your questions and we can give you more info.   :thumbup2

NOTE: I've now also started to add hotels that have been used and recommended by other bikers on other forums and will indicate these as such.

Note: Please include a link to any hotel website you recommend.

There's already some good biker-friendly hotel recommendations coming in from bikers on other forums. We should be able to build up quite a library for anyone planning a euro tour. One in Spain even has an on-site biker workshop in case customers need to use it.  :excited

Easy to find hotels in the UK, much harder to find good ones on tour abroad though.  :thumbup2

Winter Haus Gasthof Cochem, Germany
On the Mosel river in a cracking town with bike parking underneath -

http://www.alteswinzerhaus-cochem.de/

Hotel Schmid & Alfa, Brunnen, Switzerland

On Lake Lucerne, one of the best ive stayed in purely based on location and staff (just chek out the front page slideshow), rooms not massive but decent size for two, quite expensive but worth the money and a good hotel to stay in to do the Gotthard, Furka and Grimsel passes.

would NOT recommend Rosslare Port lodge, if it's where we stayed, they turn the heating off at night so your wet gear stays wet no matter how precariously you balance it over the heaters :banghead
