A Chromadero?
It is better to ride too slowly and wish that you were going quicker than to be too quick and wish that you were going slower.

While it's nice to welcome you to the world of adventure/touring style bikes, and the Varadero is uber reliable and comfortable, I'm slightly worried that the serious lack of oomph at all levels of the rev range will result in disappointment.
I know you've previously stated your need to "slow things down a bit", but after the chrominator and the Pan, the Varadero will seem lifeless.
If you're looking for this type bike, I'd consider something different. Christ, even the Suzuki vstrom has the edge over a Varadero, and that ain't saying much.

I like Varadero  :thumbup2 it is a lovely Resort Town of Matanzas, Cuba and one of the largest resort areas in the Caribbean.
It would be a strange world if we all liked the same Bike anyway.

Oh, I didn't say I didn't like it. I think it's a very nice bike.
But having taken one on a very extensive test ride, it certainly didn't have enough oomph for me.
My Tiger 800xc outstrips it in every way, but even mine hasn't got a tremendous amount of oomph.

A ride a day keeps the docor away.

Honestly, the chrominator isn't doing it for me anymore, 1 hours riding followed by 5 hours of cleaning. It's a lovely bike don't get me wrong, but I want something that is more practical that I can jump on at a moments notice and just bugger off with the Mrs for the weekend .

The Varadero has hard luggage and top box, is comfortable and practical and there's a minimal amount of cleaning compared to the Suzuki.
